Help for the International Comparisons Search Form

General Comments:

You may search the International Comparisons Database (ICDB) by selecting as many or as few of the search criteria that are provided:  Metrology Area (Major and Minor), Comparison Framework, Comparison Status (Progress and Results), and Participants.  Each of these will be described in more detail below.  If you do not choose any criteria, then the search will return all International Comparisons that are entered into the database downloading the results of all the comparisons, however, will take longer.  If you choose specific search criteria, the page is more likely to download quickly.  All records satisfying the search criteria will be returned.  Because not every participant represented in the database has participated in a comparison for every Metrology Area, it is possible to overconstrain the search, yielding no results.  If this occurs, relax one or more search criteria.  To submit your search to the database, click on any of the search buttons on the page, which are located at the top of the page, and after each search criterion.

Metrology Area:

Metrology Area is divided into major metrology areas and minor metrology areas.  The minor metrology areas are indented under their corresponding major metrology areas.  If you select a major metrology area, then all of its minor areas will automatically be selected as well since they are subsets of the major area.  You may also select individual an minor metrology area for the search as well.  If you do not select any metrology areas or if you select all metrology areas, the search will return results from all metrology areas.

Comparison Framework

The Comparison Framework is the sponsoring organization for the comparison.  If you do not select any frameworks or if you select all frameworks, the search will return results from all frameworks.

Comparison Status

Comparison Status is divided into comparison progress and comparison results.  Comparison progress measures where in the comparison process the comparison is.  Comparison results indicate whether the results of a comparison have been entered into the database.

Participant

For each participant you may select either a laboratory name or a country (but not both).  To select by lab name, click on the down arrow in the list box to reveal the entire list of participant laboratory acronyms and their corresponding full names.  (To find the lab name faster, type the first letter of its name once your clicked on the list box.)  Then select the lab for which you are looking.  To select by country, click on the down arrow in the list box to reveal the entire list of countries.  Then select the country for which you are looking.  (To find the country faster, type the first letter of its name once your clicked on the list box.)  After clicking on the down arrow in a list box, entering a letter will highlight the first choice in the list starting with that letter.  You should select Participant 1 before you select Participant 2.
